Race organisers, Bristol City Council, are deeply saddened to learn of this tragic incident.

Next of kin have been informed and our thoughts are with them.

The emergency services have been involved at every step and will, in partnership with the city council, be carrying out a full investigation.

The Bristol Half Marathon has an excellent safety record and is recognised as one of the UK's leading road races.
